For the past year or so, every time I went into Ballard Design, I would drool over this little secretary. I love the curved top, the chicken wire on the door, and the little key. It was way over of my budget (over $1000) but Ballard has really good sales so I hoped that by the time the floor sample sale came along that I could snatch it up.
It's no secret that I browse Craig's List every day. I have a list (seriously) of things and words that I do nightly searches for. People ask me how I have such good luck finding stuff on Craig's List but there isn't really a trick to it. You have to search often, daily if you can, because the good things go quickly.
I almost couldn't believe my eyes when this popped up in my search. It's nearly identical to the secretary that I've been drooling over at Ballard! The pulls are different and obviously the paint but those are simple to change. I was sure that I had found it too late and there was just no way that it was still available. It was too late to call but I just knew if I did call that the seller would say it was already gone.
But when it popped back up in the search 5 days later, I knew it was meant to be! It was in the back of my car the next day. And I saved about $1000!
Whoever painted it did a terrible job with the distressing and I don't like that they painted over the pulls. I haven't decided on a color yet (I'm thinking something darker) so she'll stay this way for a little bit.
I just love it!!
