I am so jealous of this farmer's market! I don't know what it's like other months but you should see all of the pumpkins they have right now! We bought several and if we had more room in the car, we would have bought more. So many to choose from!
Luckily I had this dashing young man with me to load up all of my pumpkins!
There is a neat little garden shop near the farmer's market and y'all know we can't go anywhere without stopping at a garden shop. Their pansies were so pretty.
Our next stop was the North Carolina Arboretum. We could have spent an entire day here but our time was very limited so we just made a quick drive through. It reminded me so much of Callaway Gardens- we spent a lot of time there when Todd lived in Georgia.
The trees in the arboretum had some of the best color we saw anywhere. Look at how gorgeous these are!!
I wanted to just lay in these leaves all day. I brought a bunch of home with me and they're pressing/drying in a book right now.
I have realized that landscape photography is not my thing. I think I need another lens. I noticed this with my pictures from Aspen and Park City as well. The colors didn't show up nearly as well in these pictures as they do upclose. I need to work on that!
We drove for a while and watched the fog roll in.
Then our pretty drive went from this..
To this..
We kept saying, "we should have taken a few more days off" as we were driving around because we kept finding things we wanted to explore. This is just a small glimpse of everything we did while we were in Asheville- we used every minute we possibly could. Until next time, Asheville...

I live fairly close to the farmer's market and it's even better in the summer. We're lucky because it is open year-round and they have just about everything you want. (Did you happen to see Biltmore Estate? You can catch a glimpse of it from the farmer's market.) Also, I love your photos from the Parkway!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had known you could get a little peek of it from where we were! We skipped the Biltmore this trip. I haven't ever been but we only had a few hours and I didn't want to spend $100 on tickets to have to run through it and not really enjoy what we were seeing. Next time though, we're going!
DeleteGorgeous photos! I hiked at the Blue Ridge Parkway last summer and was blown away by the beauty - by the looks of your photos even prettier in the fall! We too encountered pretty to torrential downpour and it was misereable as walking!
ReplyDeleteso so gorgeous! i love asheville, and would totally live there any day!
ReplyDeletei followed you via instagram all weekend and enjoyed all of your gorgeous pics on there too!
The Moose Cafe is so good - it's one of my favorites in town. The Farmer's Market is even better in the spring. We live really close to Craggy Gardens on the Parkway. It's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed your time in Asheville.
I absolutely love Asheville. A few falls ago, I rented a mountainside cabin with a few friends- carved pumpkins and watched the Gator game. This post made me nostalgic :) Your photos are beautiful. Glad you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteWho do you think you are foolin'! Ha! Your photography is perfect!!
ReplyDeleteyou just inspired me to see if the husband would want to take a vacation up that way next year to see the fall color-
ReplyDeleteand I'm a pretty experienced photographer (pre-baby I used to take portraits for families, etc) so if you want some lens suggestions, let me know! Or- if you want me to "perk" up your photos to enhance the color a little more, I can do that for you in photoshop in the meantime.
I find that the lenses that come with the cameras sometimes can be a little 'dull' and better lenses like Canon L series lenses (that are VERY pricey) give a little extra clarity and oomph to photos... but if you can't get one now (like most of us, myself included) then try using a curves bump in photoshop to give the color a little pop. :)
FWIW, though, I think your photos are well exposed and look great!!!
