That being said, the dining room never looks like this. I sew in here too so my sewing machine and all of my supplies are usually all over the table. There is literally a huge pile of crap right behind me when I was taking this picture. If you want to see the inspiration board I made when I first moved in, here is the link.
I bought my dining room table about a month before I moved into my house. I found it at an antique store in town for a steal. I had been searching for a table with cane-back chairs and although I'm not crazy about the table itself, the chairs are what sold it. The antique chest that I use as a buffet was a Craig's List find. I paid next to nothing for it which makes me love it even more. I love the drawer pulls.
I had the chair cushions reupholstered a few months ago. I purchased the fabric before I moved as well but I've been considering having them redone again. I'm trying to get a little use out of these before I change them because upholstery is not cheap. The labor for those cushions might actually be the most expensive thing in this room- even more than the table and chairs together.
This is the view from the living room. Need drapes hung asap! I just realized you can't see my beautiful coffered ceilings in any of those pictures so here is another one just so you can see them. They are my absolute favorite part of my house.
The light fixture that was in here when I moved in was terrible. It looked like a UFO and I wanted to replace it from day one. I have wanted this light fixture for months and stopped to look at it every time I walked through Home Depot. I've even bid on a few on ebay. It's a very cheap chandelier compared to most of them but I feel like I "win" if I save even a few dollars. I randomly did a search for it about two weeks ago and found it at 40% off plus free shipping. I ordered it without even asking Todd if he knew how to switch them. Luckily he did and hung it for me a few nights ago.

ReplyDeleteIt is truly just lovely -- every single detail. The ceilings are to die for. And those Homegoods glasses ... so sweet!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour house is beautiful. You have such an eye for design and detail! I love all the great architechtural details of your house - from the built in cabinets to the ceilings. Is it a restored older home or beautifully done new construction?
ReplyDeleteIt's new construction. I think it was built in 2006 or so but it was built in a historic neighborhood so they tried to match the architecture of some of the homes here. The living and dining rooms have great details but the rest of the interior is pretty generic unfortunately!
DeleteThe table & chairs are gorgeous! You really have an eye for interior design.
ReplyDeleteI love this room! So gorgeous and I think it is great that utilize it for your sewing too, really maximizing your space. I love your chest and the little fern on it. Is it real? We have a fern that my mom gave us that I want to bring in for the winter months, but I am not sure where to put it yet. Love all of the details and the fabric on the chairs, everything blends in so beautifully.
ReplyDeleteYes, the fern is real! Ferns are pretty easy as long as they aren't in direct sunlight. They do need some filtered light through so near a window that gets a few hours of sun a day should be good.
DeleteIt looks SO good! I love the white and brightness! I love it all.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty chandelier. I'm in search for one for our new house as well. Currently the dining room doesn't have a light fixture at all because the room was originally the formal living room. Lucky for me I have a father that's an electrician.
ReplyDeleteI think this looks great. I am a big fan of matching things by stains but that is just me! The chandelier is a perfect size for the room... sometimes you just know, right?
ReplyDeleteSO pretty! I love all of the whites and blues together!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! You have impeccable taste.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this! You should be an interior designer. Your dining room looks like something out of Southern Living!
ReplyDeleteI love how it all turned out! Can you please come to New Orleans and re-do my entire house:) Do you remember the name of the wall color??? LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't know the color unfortunately. I believe it was a custom color match so I just have the label from the can. The link is up there in the list of details.
DeleteGorgeous room! It doesn't look like Pottery Barn sells those napkins anymore (at least online) which is a bummer because I love that pattern. Love the clean elegant style of this room. On a side note, I think that you've convinced me that I need a fern in my house. Never would have thought it could make such a nice touch!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric on your chairs...so pretty! I also really like the mirror and the antique chest. One of my best friends has a buffet that was passed down to her from her great-grandmother, and I keep saying when I buy my own house, I will find one at an antique store. The room is elegant and calming...great job!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so beautiful - love the colors and the hydrangeas add the perfect finishing touch to the table!
ReplyDeleteSo when is your house going to be featured in Southern Living? I'm sending them your blog like, NOW.
ReplyDeleteIt's just gorgeous! Your ceiling are to die for and the built-ins between the two rooms are amazing!! I love your house so, so much!! Can't wait to see what you do for the Holidays!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely beautiful! I love your attention to detail and all of the architectural elements. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely stunning!!
