Gameday Wreath

I put my gameday wreath out earlier this week.  It's the same one that I made last year, I just added a sparkly bow I found in a closet.  Deco mesh is so easy to work with.  Before I tried it for myself, I thought there was no way I could make the awesome creations I've seen on Pinterest and other blogs.  The mesh folds itself for you- all you have to do is secure it!

My little tip is- don't even bother trying to find one of those wreath forms that are in most of the tutorials.  I couldn't find one anywhere!  I just got a foam wreath form, wrapped it in blue ribbon so the white wouldn't show through, and secured my "bunches" with floral pins.  Easy as that!

The little glass footballs I used are actually Christmas ornaments from Hobby Lobby and I was there last week so I know they have them again this year.  I secured those with floral pins as well.

Another tip (which seems so obvious)- storing wreaths is kind of tough. You don't want them to get smashed but who has room for a bunch of wreath boxes?  And who wants to buy a bunch of wreath boxes?  I hang mine on the back of doors that aren't frequently used.  I rarely shut my office door so I've got one hanging on the back of it.  Back of guest room closet doors, linen closet, etc.  It'll keep them out of sight and out of the way until you're ready to display it again.

I cropped these photos so close on purpose- I think my ferns have checked out for the year.  Or forever.  If you ask Todd, I'm sure he will tell you that I only water them every three weeks or so and that's why they're dead.  He's probably right.  Either way, they look terrible so I did my best to keep them out of the picture.  I'm ready to replace them with orange mums and maybe some ornamental grass!  I saw giant potted mums at Home Depot last night but I'll give it another week or two before I make the switch.

HAPPY FOOTBALL WEEKEND, Y'ALL!

    1. It's actually a maroon/purple color. I have no idea what color it is- it was already this color when I moved in.

  2. I just finished and hung my wreath today. I did use a wire wreath form and after using that and wire to secure the mesh, I think it would be so much easier to use a traditional wreath from and pins like you did. Plus I don't really like how I can see the wire form through the mesh ribbon. Have a great weekend. Go Gators!!

  6. Great minds think alike I guess. Check out my blog just put up my game day wreath as well. Have to say yours is a bit more lovely than mine. To funny about your ferns. I have ferns on my porch but they are fake with my non-green thumb it's the only way for them to survive.

  8. I've been pinning wreathes left right and center on Pinterest! I'm the same as you in that I always look at the pictures and think 'I highly doubt I'd be capable of making one of these myself' but you've inspired me to get off my ass and give it a go! :) Love your football wreath, well done! :)

    1. You ABSOLUTELY can! I promise it's so much easier than it seems. And wreaths are so dang expensive that it's just cheaper to make your own!
