Gameday Attire

Only 7 more Saturdays without college football!  Because I usually get a handful of emails and comments every year asking where to find cute dresses for football season, I wanted to share some of my favorite sites with y'all so you can start looking.  While a fashion blogger I am not- I do know enough about gameday dresses to know whoever keeps repinning that horrible Aggie's t-shirt dress on Pinterest needs to stop! You're in the SEC now so we're going to retire that t-shirt dress to the carwash bucket in your garage, mmkay?

Here are some sites for great affordable dresses and accessories:

1. Adabelle's
2. Vestique
3. Blue Door Boutique

4. Bella's Boutique
5. Southern Frock
6. Twelve Saturdays

7. Judith March collection at Luxe No 7
8. Dress U
9. Freckles Boutique

10. Private Gallery
11. Queen of the Tailgate

I think the key is to pick solid dresses and fancy them up with coordinating colors.  You could wear a dress with sandals and a big fun necklace in August and then wear the same dress in October with boots and a scarf.  Check back on those sites over the next several weeks as they add more gameday choices.

As much as I love a cute sundress, my favorite games are later on in the season when the temperatures start dropping and you can wear cute boots and a scarf.  Fall is my absolute favorite time of year and I just can't get enough of being outside.  Especially cheering on our teams at a football game!

If you're looking for the perfect little wristlet, Marley Lilly makes a monogrammed nylon one that reminds me of a Longchamp bag.  I ordered an orange one with a navy monogram last year and I love it.  They also have a crossbody envelope clutch that you can have monogrammed.  Hands free is key!

Bridier Baubles deserves a mention.  She has cute affordable jewelry that comes in a bunch of colors.

For your little guy, JV Clothiers.  They are adding more and more schools so bookmark them!

I love the tailgating supplies at Luv My Team especially the personalized foam cups!

That should get y'all started.  I will share more in the next few weeks!

P.S. One of my favorite bloggers, Red Clay Soul, asked me to contribute to his Top Of The Heap series.  Jump on over to his blog to read the story of my {very old} cast iron skillet.

  13. If you're looking for a little extra flair, this chick customizes game-day jewelry to your team colors... of course she may not have your esteemed sense of style as she is an ACC fan. ;) http://airemaille.us/HokieGear.html

  15. Oh, those game day dresses are fantastic! This post makes me sad that there's no good tailgating down here in SW FL! :( When you start to talk football, I start to miss the real South!

  16. Love the post! Even though the South has led the trend in dressing up for football games, I think it is quickly spreading to the rest of the Nation. I have already noticed the trend starting in the Midwest. Love it! Be sure to also check out the new site http://www.gorgeousgameday.com/ which features dresses and accessories for schools all over the U.S.!

  18. I am an A&M grad and you are absolutely right about how our female students dress for games. Enough with the jorts and t-shirts.

Wait, you went to Florida. Ignore the jorts comment.

    1. Proudly a UF grad.

      ......Texas A&M made this video...

I'm sure you're proud as well.

    2. No. That video was pathetic. The university's marketing director was forced to apologize to students and alumni for it.

I do like how the only attractive girl in the video had to say the line "Go Cocks". She looked incredibly uncomfortable.

But seriously, the female students at my school have a lot to learn from you southern girls.

  19. I am in love with the orange seersucker Judith March dress!! I spent MONTHS trying to find it last year but never managed to get it. One of the boutiques I spoke with said Judith March only sends one of each size initially.

  20. We are a Mizzou family, and I am most excited about this part of joining the SEC! I hope you all are patient with our girls though; it may take a few seasons before they all come around to dressing up at games :) I'm also hoping that now I can find smocked Mizzou outfits for my little by - they have not existed yet but now they have to!

  21. Wow - so many cute dresses! I also love the monogrammed wristlet. Thanks for sharing!

  22. Thanks for all the great links! I couldn't agree more with the t-shirt dress comment. As an A&M grad who has never and will never own a t-shirt dress, I am embarrassed every time I see one of those. Let's hope we can all dress accordingly now that we have joined the SEC!

  23. Great post! Looking forward to doing some gameday shopping! My bday is the S. Carolina game day this year- on my list is a cute dress and those foam cups will be perfect for the tailgate!

  24. I love the tradition of southern schools getting dressed up for games. I went to the University of Texas, and we didn't really have that as part of our culture. Though I was in a student organization that had a dress code for the games, so I never looked like a schlump. I'm interested to see how A&M will adapt to the new environment, I think they have some traditions about wearing overalls decorated with school colors. There are gorgeous gals at A&M, so I'm sure they'll want to shine up and start wearing dresses etc to the games.

  25. Hey Waspy Redhead! Fancy meeting you here!

Lord, please let that horrible tradition of wearing those horribly ugly Yell Leader overalls to games die in a fire, PLEASE!! I would love to see the Aggies take on the SEC/Southern traditions of dressing for games. We can't use that lame ass excuse of "it's too hot" because it's just as hot at LSU or UGA or The Swamp or Ole Miss or anywhere else in SEC country and they put forth the effort. Come on, Aggie ladies, let's show the SEC how beautiful Texas women are!

  27. As an Aggie, I am super excited about the SEC tradition of actually dressing for games. I hated the overalls when I was there, and hate the t-shirt dresses. While A&M is known for it's long-standing traditions, we are not a bunch of farmers anymore, and there is no reason to dress like it!

  28. While this comment is a bit late (I only found your blog recently and I always like to read blogs from the beginning) I appreciate that you've identified that there is actually a dress code for game days, and other times when one is out in public.
Many people outside of the SEC don't realize that they actually are supposed to dress differently for different events. No, wearing 'sweats' or 'jammie pants' everywhere is not acceptable.
Please continue to share your insights about "what to wear there" with us. Maybe we can start a 'dress like it matters' revolution.
