Crafty Weekend

I made my first deco mesh wreath! I saw a blue and orange wreath on ETSY and decided to make on myself rather than ordering it.  I think it turned out pretty cute.  I really struggled with what to put on it though.  I'll probably add something else.

I ran into a few beginners problems- I bought the wrong wreath form and couldn't find the standard type used to make deco mesh wreaths so I improvised.  I used a foam form, covered it in blue ribbon so the white form wouldn't show through, and used floral pins to pin the mesh in place.  I found the glass football ornaments at Hobby Lobby and used floral pins to hold those in place as well.  The laces on the footballs were in the wrong place, so I just drew new ones on them with a gold paint pen.  I am pretty pleased with my first try.

ETA: I'm not going to do a how-to because there are loads of videos on You Tube.  That's how I figured it out!  I could only find Poly Deco Mesh at Hobby Lobby (my Michael's or JoAnn's didn't carry it) but you can also order it from this site; they have a bunch of great colors!  The blue in my wreath is from the 21" roll and the orange is from 5.5". The method closest to mine is this one.

  10. Love the wreath! It turned out sooo good. I'm not the least bit crafty, so I'll probably have to find someone to make mine or just order one. Sigh.

  13. It looks like you used four strands of the geo mesh, two for each color, is that right?

  15. Looks great! I've been wanting to make an Auburn wreath, but can't find navy blue mesh, so I'm debating trying to make do with the brighter blue...

  16. There are a lot of places online that have the deco mesh, in the colors you need and the wreath form ( work wreath). Trendy Tree.com, even has a blog for ideas. Mardi Gras Outlet.com, BBCrafts.com. Ellis Pottery.com, to name a few.
You did a great job on your wreath. Stop by my blog and check out my deco mesh projects.
