Nashville

We had another one of our signature jam packed busy weekends.  We got in the car at 6am on Friday morning and pointed it towards Nashville.  It took us approximately 12 hours to make a 5 hour trip because one of the best things about driving to your destination is that you're able to stop along the way.  I'll save the Jack Daniel's Distillery tour for another day.

We had lunch in Decatur, Alabama at Big Bob Gibson's BBQ.  They were featured in this month's Garden & Gun magazine (if you don't subscribe..you should.  It's one of my favorites.).  The BBQ was good, their famous white sauce was good (different but good), but their lemon ice box pie was amazing!

We met up with Megan and her boyfriend, Sean.  We had dinner and a fun night out in Nashville. I wish we lived closer because these two are an absolute hoot!  We had a great time experiencing downtown with them.

On Saturday we explored downtown Nashville and went to Hatch Show Print.

For those of you who aren't familiar, Hatch Show Print is one of the oldest letterpress print shops in the US.  The shop is filled with previous posters and all of their wood blocks.  It really is a neat shop.  I love the idea of having a custom poster/invitation made for a rustic wedding.

On Sunday before leaving town we went took an impromptu tour of the Belmont Mansion.  Belmont is a small (beautiful) college now but you can tour the mansion that was built in 1849.  They still have about 40% of the original furnishings in the house and cast iron gazebos outside.
