Recipe (kinda): Ahi Tuna Salad

I went to a local restaurant called Salt Life Food Shack a few weeks ago for the first time and I had an ahi tuna asian whatever salad that I absolutely loved. I tried to replicate it last night and even though I cooked the tuna a little too long it was still really good...so good in fact that I made it again tonight and did a much better job on the tuna. This definitely isn't "fall food" but I'm just not ready for all of that heaviness yet.
To make this:
1. Salt and pepper (and sesame seeds, if you want) a fresh piece of tuna. Lightly oil a grill pan and, over medium, slowly sear both sides of the steak. I cook it until there is just the smallest amount of pink around the sides. Once it's cooked to my liking, let it sit on a cutting board for a few minutes.
2. My salad contains chopped romaine lettuce and a bunch of coleslaw cabbage mix from a bag (this is serious cooking business right here!). And because I've got a problem with avocado, a bunch of chopped up avocado. In my defense..it was on the salad from Salt Life so I was just trying to be authentic. :-)
3. For the dressing...I love this: Kraft Light Toasted Sesame Dressing. I hate bottled dressings. I usually always make my own salad dressing but I wasn't feeling it the other night so I just bought a few...I probably bought 4 different kinds trying to find one that I liked and this one is fantastic..and light!

  4. That looks delicious! Ahi tuna is one of my favorites to get at restaurants. Not sure if I'm brave enough to make it at home.
